Cheerleaders for the Carbon Tax

This is old - so old that these cheerleaders no longer actively cheer for the carbon tax as the liberal leader in Canada.  But I still find it ammusing =p.  I met Stéphane Dion when he was promoting the Green Shift in Kingston, Ontario.  Hope you enjoy it =)

George W. Bush’s advisory report on climage change

Tthis is a bit dated - but hey, it’s Friday Thursday and Mr. George W. Bush was nice enough to edit the report so that he wish us to “have a nice day”.  it’s worth posting…

Too bad he’s not the only person who is denying climate change…

Harper and his nonbinding emission target…

In Canada, we don’t have a real national target for GHG reduction.  Our current target by our Prime Minister Stephen Harper is:

  • 20 per cent below 2006 levels by 2020; and
  • 60-70 per cent below 2006 levels by 2050.

In other words, it means that according to the internationally used 1990 base year, the Harper target is less than 3 per cent below 1990 level for 2020, and about 51-63 per cent below 1990 levels for 2050.  To put this further into perspective, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicated that in order to have a reasonable chance of avoiding the catastrophic impact of climate change, industrial countries will have to reduce their emissions 25-40 per cent from 1990 levels by 2020, and 80-95 per cent by 2050.

So, what do you think of Harper’s target?

This cartoon on Mapleleafweb by Dolighan says it all… “Harper and his non-binding emission target”…

The amazing light bulb!

I really enjoy this cartoon from CounterThink, especially since the lighting technologies are advancing leaps and bounds on a daily basis! Take fluorescent lights for example, there has been huge advances! I heard that recently a new ballast has been developed/commercialized for use inside the cooler!  If you don’t know, the ballast typically only works well in ambient temperature.  Want to know more about ballasts?  see the Wiki article..

I suppose we can save the planet one bulb at a time….
