Introducing LoLeeGreen
I am an energy and carbon management consultant. I live in Vancouver BC, Canada where everyone seems to be involved in climate change issues, and that is awesome! As you might already know, we’re the first and only jurisdiction with consumption based and revenue neutral Carbon Tax in North America (EDIT**Thanks to Ben’s comment, I needed to clarify that Quebec has introduced tax on carbon based fuels to “fuel producers and distributors” in 2007)!
Why do I blog about something everyone already talks about? Yes I know there are many, many, many Climate Change/Green/Sustainability blogs and websites in the Inter-web, why bother setting up another one? Well, don’t we all have something to say about it? I certainly do!
Through this blog, I will post interesting and sometimes absurd ‘green’ quotes, ideas, and facts to generate discussions. In addition, I want to share my thoughts on BC’s Carbon Tax (and other relevant policies) as it seems like most British Columbians, with high Climate Change IQ, are still somewhat confused about the Carbon Tax!
I like to hear from you if you have comments on any of my post! You can leave a comment directly or you can email me at flo@loleeGreen.com **EDIT: yes this email works now!!**. If you have interesting and (ideally) absurd green quotes, ideas, o facts, email me and I’ll fit them in!

Hey Flora, congrats on the blog! Climate change is a very important topic, so one more website raising awareness about it certainly can’t hurt. I have a website devoted to it also (ericweitzel.com) but it is dreadfully out of date. You can pick up the reins where I’ve let them go slack. Good luck with it!

Hey Flo, congrats on your blog! I’ve heard the bloggosphere can get a little rough though! Here’s your first test: Didn’t Quebec start North America’s 1st carbon tax?

PS. I’m looking for a 3D animation/model of a “house of the future” which uses renewable energy technologies. Have you come across anything like this? I’m helping to organize a workshop in Kingston that discusses renewable energy for home owners and I’m looking for this model for an intro lecture.

In Quebec, the tax on carbon is only imposed on energy producers, and it is not taking the revenue neutral approach. But you’re right, Quebec did introduce such tax in 2007. I have changed the wording to clarify how BC is the first and only jurisdiction with “revenue neutral” and “consumption based” carbon tax =).

I’m also interested in the Western Climate Initiative… I could have sworn that BC was also part of that but I just checked the website quickly and couldn’t find them on the list…
