Carbon Credits consumer guide
I came across “A consumer’s guide to retail carbon offset providers” last night in search for “reputable carbon credits sources”. This is a pretty good read. They rated carbon credits providers under a few categories and came up with a list of companies that they recommend:
- AgCert (Ireland)
- Climate Trust (US)
- atmosfair (Germany)
- co2balance (UK)
- CarbonNeutral Company (UK)
- NativeEnergy (US)
- Climate Care (UK)
- Sustainable Travel/MyClimate™ (US)
Nothing about Canadian companies… I’ll do more research!

If you want ethics, sustainability and additionality to be prioritise in what you do, then only co2balance truly covers those. Minimum 50% additionality…as they run their own projects…

Thanks Nathan, I investigated co2balance website a bit more and you’re right, it’s very comforting to learn that they’re managing most of their projects and they are not funded by VCs or other financial organizations. I understand that UK has released an offset guideline last year; i haven’t had a chance to read it, do you find it a good reference?
